Meet tim WOoten (he/him)

I am able to see clients located in North Carolina.

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a National Certified Counselor in North Carolina. As a counselor, I work from a person-centered approach to therapy, partnering with you to meet you where you are, leverage individual strengths, and identify areas of growth and resilience.

I enjoy working with people experiencing trauma, anxiety, and panic disorders as well as depression and mood disorders. If you experience feelings of dread, difficulty sleeping, worries about health, your loved ones or yourself, lack of motivation, or are curious about your relationship with substances, therapy can be a place to process these concerns and develop ways to ease your symptoms. As a neurodiverse therapist, I welcome Autistic and ADHD clients, whether self-identified or officially diagnosed. Prior to my work as a counselor, I spent over ten years working in corporate finance and accounting, and understand the unique pressures associated with high-pressure careers, managing work-life balance, as well as career changes and transitions.

I offer a relaxed, non-judgmental approach to therapy sessions, using an eclectic mix of therapy modalities and techniques based on person-centered and cognitive behavioral approaches. I am trained in Somatic and Attachment Focused E.M.D.R. (SAFE EMDR), Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Grief Counseling, and Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy for Schizophrenia and Serious Mental Health Conditions. I also incorporate mindfulness to help you become more aware and develop acceptance of the present moment. I believe you are the expert in your own treatment, and I am dedicated to partnering alongside you in your well-being.

I am LGBTQIA+ and Neurodiversity affirming, and welcome clients of all backgrounds and experiences.

In my spare time, you can find me cycling or running, reading about cycling or running, listening to The Grateful Dead, hiking, and reading the news or memes from Laura.

As a lifelong NC State fan living in a divided house, I enjoy cheering on the Wolfpack with mixed results.
