Meet laura Wooten (she/her)

I am able to see clients located in North Carolina and Vermont. I am currently building a wait list.

As a therapist, I strongly believe in meeting you where you are. I enjoy working with adults 18+. I have worked extensively with young adults who have been in foster care, university students, and both new and experienced parents. I have also worked with social work professionals and graduate students,  and enjoy ensuring that those in the helping professions are supported while also caring for their own personal wellbeing.

As a therapist, I enjoy working with anxiety, depression, trauma, and neurodivergence, including ADHD and Autism. My style is warm and eclectic. I draw from a variety of evidenced-based models, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Somatic and Attachment Focused Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (S.A.F.E. EMDR), Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to address your concerns and distressing symptoms. I am also a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200), and I enjoy integrating aspects of yoga, including mindfulness and a mind/body approach into therapy where appropriate.

I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, weight inclusive, and welcoming of clients of all cultural, racial, and religious backgrounds. I enjoy holding space for folks with religious trauma or who have had adverse religious experiences. It is important to me to be continuously learning and evaluating my privilege, practicing from an antiracist and anti-oppressive lens.

In my spare time, you can find me reading a few different books (usually procrastinating on the nonfiction ones), exploring new hiking trails, sending memes to Tim, or watching reruns of Schitt’s Creek or The Office. I try not to gloat to Tim too much when UNC beats NC State.
